Richard Blundell
Richard is a Portfolio Analyst at Illuminate Financial, where he supports investment and portfolio decision-making through the analysis of performance, valuation and portfolio data.
With 5+ years of experience across private markets and financial services, Richard brings a strong foundation in fund performance, reporting and portfolio monitoring. His earlier experience in audit and fund accounting form his understanding of the financial mechanics that sit behind both portfolio companies and fund structures.
Previously, Richard worked in Fund Accounting at Oakley Capital, supporting fund reporting and operational processes across private market vehicles, and before that in Audit at PwC, where he developed a strong technical foundation in financial reporting and assurance. Alongside his finance career, he has also worked with the British Army, is ACA-qualified, and holds an Integrated Master’s degree and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, with published academic research.
He is particularly interested in sustainable finance and the use of data to uncover performance drivers, and how this can influence the next phase of investing and value creation.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find him wild camping, hiking, or following the mighty Arsenal.
