Alex Gheorghe is an Investor at Illuminate Financial, where she sources, evaluates, and supports high-growth enterprise fintech and B2B software companies serving global financial institutions. She focuses on the application layer in financial services, backing founders building mission-critical infrastructure for banks, asset managers, and CFOs.

With 7+ years of experience across investment and operator roles, Alex has worked as both an investor and operator, giving her a practical understanding of how financial institutions adopt, implement, and scale technology. Her experience across venture, corporate innovation, and early-stage fintechs provides a full-stack view of the financial services value chain.

Previously, she worked in investor and operator roles at Jump Capital and Sardine while pursuing her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management. Earlier, Alex held roles across Corporate Finance and Innovation teams at Barclays.

She’s particularly interested in the evolution of the CFO tech stack, next-generation payments infrastructure, and the intersection of AI and financial services — especially where software enhances or transforms services-driven models.

Outside of work, you’ll find her outdoors — an avid skier who’s recently taken up tennis, pickleball, and other racquet sports.
